With the signing to Frontiers, it appears things are falling into place. Next in line for news will be 'Solitary' and 'LSA'. The cover art for LSA now done is a sign that it should be closer to release. Gotta admit that this 1981 live recording sounds very damm good, (just listened to the other 3 live to compare) and it sounds better than Beast, '95, and The Sun. For something that was recored back in '81, it is awesome. Going Under also sounds like a good song, wonder why they never used it. Thanks 4evermetal, listening to those tracks makes me wait with anticipation!!!LOL

I too wonder why Goin' Down was not included in previous releases. Good song. I still want to know who the bassist is on this album Juan? Someone else? I actually just got a live album from Dokken from Japan in '88. It's got about 19 songs on it. Good stuff.

Those sound samples really do sound excellent. Was this show filmed as well? I'm just wondering if, like the Live '95 Japan cd, a dvd will appear later on of the same thing.

With the band headed in the studio in January to record their ninth album Lighting Strikes Again due out summer 2007 Frontiers Records revisits the quartet's early days with a Live CD from 1981, packed with unreleased material. From Conception finds singer Don Dokken, guitarist George Lynch, drummer Mick Brown and bassist Jeff Pilson ripping through 10 unreleased live performances of several songs that were eventually recorded for the band's debut album, Breaking The Chains, including Live To Rock (Rock To Live), Knightrider, the title track, Paris Is Burning plus a showcase for Lynch's formidable guitar heroics. Also, according the setlist, they should have name it "Live 1983". There are currently a couple of shows from December 1983 that have the same exact setlist. I'm assuming GTR stands for "guitar" solo.

It is not accurate. And the bad part about this is the band authorized the use of his name for the press release. I don't understand that. That isn't right. I hope they have a valid explaination for saying Jeff played on the album when in fact he didn't. That doesn't sit right with me. The latest from melodrock.com DOKKEN 1985 VHS NOW DUE FOR DVD: Another new archive release is coming up from Dokken. This time it is a DVD release of an original VHS release from 1985. A US release is all that is planned right now I believe. BTW - in reference to the last press release from the band regarding the live 1981 release. The inclusion of Jeff Pilson in that press release as being part of the line-up (while inaccurate), is what the band approved and has subsequently been issued as a press release worldwide. Why? Who knows! I await an update/answer... Today's press release / When Dokken released the home video Unchain The Night in 1985, the band was touring for its second platinum album, Under Lock And Key. The original VHS release contained on- and off-stage footage shot by the band while on tour in Europe and America. Also included were videos of the hit singles "It's Not Love" and "In My Dreams" as well as "Into The Fire," "Just Got Lucky" and "Alone Again" from 1984's Tooth And Nail. For its DVD debut, Unchain The Night is expanded with four previously unreleased videos: "Burning Like A Flame," and "Heaven Sent" from 1987's Back For The Attack, plus "Walk Away" a studio track added to the 1988 live album Beast From The East. Also included is the video for "Dream Warriors," a song for A Nightmare On Elm Street III that featured the band and two stars from the film: Robert Englund (as Freddy Krueger) and Emmy' winner Patricia Arquette. The DVD also features a newly recorded interview with the band. Even they are puzzled by the group saying Pilson was involved. Hopefully there will be something said about that.

Well, it probably will sell a few more copies with it saying Jeff was in the band at the time. Still doesn't make it right. Maybe for their next live album from 2002, they can say that George Lynch was on that one. That's a plan.

The track list matches the set list on bootlegs from this time period. I'm sure that when this is released you will be able to hear Jeff's backround vocals throughout this recording. Dokken did not play these tracks in 1981, George and Mick didn't start with Dokken till late Summer early Fall 81. I'll bet this was either the complete recording of their King Biscuit show or One of the Y&T/Dio/Dokken shows from 12/83. Andrew

I am sure you know that BTC first got released in Europe in '81. They redid and remastered it for the US release in '83. But from all indications, this concert was in '81. '81=no Jeff Pilson.

Would have much rathered they still call it Live from Conception but have live material from the early days right through until the present (providing that recordings are available). Would have loved some of the obscure stuff like "Change the World", "Night by Night", "Lightning Strikes Again", "Jaded Heart" etc on a Live CD. Maybe these tracks have never ever been recorded live and hence the decision to go with all they had that has previously been unreleased. I will still buy it and will still probably love it! Cannot wait for LSA and the tour which I'm travelling from Australia to come and see 3 or 4 shows. I just have a feeling this wil be the last ever Dokken tour and I'm not missing it for anything. I have been saving for this for the last 2 years.

That shows some commitment from you. Are you going to see them in the US or in Europe or possibly Japan? I gather it would be a shorter flight to Europe than here. I don't agree with your other point. I don't see this as their last tour. I can easily see several tours in the future. Don seems to still enjoy making music and albums, so the retirement home can be set aside for now. Don is over 10 years younger than Dio is. If Dio can still rock, Don can certainly do it as well. I have a feeling that Dio might still be performing 50 years from now. But that is a different post.
